Happy Thanksgiving from the Raven Spas of Los Angeles

Happy Thanksgiving from the Raven Spas of Los Angeles

All of us at The Raven Spas in Los Angeles would like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Whether you came to us looking for an infrared sauna in Los Angeles or in need of the best massage in L.A., we want you to know how very much we appreciate your trust in us.

Roast turkey and pumpkin pie might not be the only things that make Thanksgiving one of our favorite holidays. At some point during the holiday, most of us will take at least a moment or two to reflect on all the things in our lives that we are grateful for. And it turns out that all that gratitude can make us feel happier.

Be Grateful for Gratitude

Robert Emmons , one of the world’s leading scientific experts on gratitude, and his colleagues have studied more than one thousand people of all ages and have determined that Gratitude Is Good. Their research found that people who practice gratitude consistently can experience a wide variety of benefits, including feeling:

  • More optimism and happiness
  • Higher levels of positive emotions
  • More alert, alive, and awake
  • More joy and pleasure

Researchers say that people who have made gratitude a regular part of their life also “Exercise more and take better care of their health.” Emmons and his fellow researchers have also found that people who have a regular practice of gratitude can enjoy a number of other physical and social benefits, including:

Physical Benefits

  • Stronger immune systems
  • Fewer complaints of aches and pains
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Better and longer sleep, leaving them feeling more refreshed upon waking

Social Benefits

  • More helpful, generous, and compassionate
  • More forgiving
  • More outgoing
  • Feel less lonely and isolated

“The social benefits are especially significant here because, after all, gratitude is a social emotion,” Emmons says in his essay Why Gratitude Is Good. I see it as a relationship-strengthening emotion because it requires us to see how we’ve been supported and affirmed by other people.”

Both of our Los Angeles spas will be closed on Thursday, November 28 so that we can enjoy Thanksgiving with our families. We know the holidays can be stressful, so rest assured, we will be open again on Friday for stress-relieving massages in Santa Monica and Silver Lake.
