How Can You De-Stress When You Can’t Visit the Spa?

Spa in Los Angeles - How Can You De-Stress When You Can’t Visit the Spa?

If you’ve been wishing that you could visit The Raven Spa in Los Angeles for a little stress-relieving attention – whether it would be in the form of a massage at our Santa Monica location, a Radiant Raven Facial at our Silverlake day spa or a visit to the infrared sauna at either Los Angeles spa location – you’re not alone. These are definitely stressful times!

In addition to washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, maintaining a six-foot distance from other people when you go out and trying valiantly not to touch your face, you have to keep track of what is open and what isn’t, where you can get curbside pickup and which businesses offer delivery.

And then there’s the stress of setting up a home office or keeping the kids busy and productive – or both!

Don’t Forget to Breathe

It’s easy to get overwhelmed in the age of Covid-19.  Somewhere on your long to-do list, we hope you can find some time to take care of yourself. Remember, you’re not going to be much good to everyone else if you don’t take time to recharge your own batteries.

Here are some things you can do in a limited amount of time to help you maintain your mental and physical wellbeing during these challenging times:

  • Eat a healthy diet. No one is saying you have to abandon comfort food, that would be asking way too much for any of us. Just don’t get too carried away. And do your best to eat a healthy, balanced diet full of fruits and vegetables when you’re not reaching for the comfort foods.
  • Stay active. You may not be able to go to the gym, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up on exercise. Are there stairs in your building? Running – or even walking – up and down them will give you a great workout. Do you have a bike in your storage locker? This would be a great time to get it out. If all else fails, crank up the stereo and dance as if no one is watching.
  • Breathe! Seriously. As the experts at Neurocore Brain Performance Centers explain, “When you take a deep breath in, your heart rate quickens slightly. As you exhale, your heart rate slows. Repeated deep breaths will naturally bring your heart rate more in sync with your breath. This leads your brain to release endorphins, which are chemicals that have a natural calming effect.”

All of us at The Raven Spas of Los Angeles are thinking of you and we’re looking forward to the day when we can welcome you back to our day spas in L.A. Take care of yourselves and stay safe!
